I am Anna Fran Mäki-Jyllilä, an artist from Helsinki.
You can call me Fran and use any pronouns.
I draw, write, collect, and sometimes perform. I look for in meanings folded within each other, in objects and in architecture, in language and in time. Details open into space. Through wandering, listening, collage and diffraction, I slowly build an archive of images and possible homes. It is research of a kind, with curious methods, seeking light. I ask: how is there wind inside this poem? How to make good bread? Drawing, how to hold the world?
Currently, I’m a student of printmaking in the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki. My main interests there are intaglio and little leaflets.
In my past I have studied architecture in Aalto University. Then I fell ill and was a student of life and love, trying to heal, and still I am drawing that path. Architecture remains a great love of mine.
